ePAD in IC chips

Glad to post my new Question here ! Currently iam working on a RTC (Abracon AB 1804) chip.When i referred a schematic there was a connection denoted as ePAD pin to ground .Am confused what is ePAD pin, the speciality of ePAD connection to ground??Though i googled about it ,still i couldnt get a clearview explanation of it ! so could anybody explain what is ePAD and why it is used? !
