Engineering Company John Crane Awards CERTPOINT New Global Contract
â¦extension of existing relationship to support the growth of John Craneâs e-learning strategyâ¦
Tuesday 6th October 2009 - CERTPOINT Systemsâ¢, a leading international provider of integrated enterprise learning solutions, today announced that global engineering company John Crane has signed a new worldwide contract for its CERTPOINT VLS⢠learning platform. The agreement extends the existing three-year relationship between the two companies and enables John Crane to offer access to Know-How, the companyâs e-learning portal powered by CERTPOINT VLSâ¢, to more employees. John Crane has 6,600 employees in 53 countries, and Know-How is being rolled out to support the adoption of e-learning on a country-by-country basis.
John Crane originally licensed CERTPOINT VLS⢠in 2006, after a six-month evaluation of major e-learning providers. It was selected as a highly configurable, out-of-the box solution to support the companyâs e-learning strategy, with an initial rollout in India and China to accelerate the pace of knowledge transfer in these markets. John Craneâs UK-based e-learning team was able to deploy CERTPOINT VLS⢠with ease, re-branding the solution as Know-How. The rollout continued into other countries, facilitated by nominated Local Administrators who act as champions to promote the system and provide first level support in their territories.
In 2008, John Craneâs operations in EAA (Europe Asia Africa) and the Americas, including employee training and development, were brought together under a single global management and organisational structure. This provided the opportunity for the company to roll-out the e-learning portal Know-How as the common system for internal learning worldwide, covered by a single umbrella CERTPOINT contract.
Nigel Jenkins, Manager â Engineering Training & Enablement at John Crane adds, âKnowledge gives John Crane its reputation for excellence and its technical competitive advantage. E-learning is an integral part of our learning culture alongside mentoring, on the job training, and classroom and distance learning. CERTPOINTâs integrated learning platform makes our learning system easily scalable yet simple to use, enabling it to gain momentum and acceptance throughout the organisation. Usage is increasing as we add to the existing âtechnicalâ content, as well as more e-learning on topics such as health & safety and environmental standards.â
Ara Ohanian, Chief Executive, Founder and President of CERTPOINT Systems, Inc. comments, âThe speed of delivering knowledge continues to be an important factor in generating competitive advantage during difficult economic times. It is also crucial in preparing organisations for an expected upturn in business activity. We are delighted to be supporting John Crane in delivering a flexible global learning platform, which is enabling the organisation to increase the reach and quality of its training provision on worldwide basis.â
The CERTPOINT LMS has an integrated authoring tool which also allows the creation of
e-learning courses in-house. The specification, authoring, development and management of John Craneâs Know-How content is coordinated by only 1.5 full-time employees centrally, who work with Subject Matter Experts around the John Crane organisation to create and release content in specialised subject areas. The team uses very infrequent additional support from CERTPOINT, underlining the user-friendliness of the technology.
John Crane is considering extending the use of the CERTPOINT system to local markets, to enable local John Crane businesses to develop their own localised e-learning content.
