ELF Velomobile - Pedal It Like The Tricycle & Power It By The Sun

Calling it a vehicle 'powered by the Sun and You', ELF Velomobile is a new automobile from Organic Transit, currently making waves at Kickstarter. The innovative new car called the ELF, designed to be steer clear of the high-priced, full-size electric cars segment, will run on a solar-powered battery that powers its electric assist motor. And it vows to keep you fit and healthy as you pedal it around the town like a tricycle. So, you can now skip the gym and exercise your way to buy the groceries. With up to two hours of battery charge up time, ELF features a 60-watt photovoltaic panel mounted on its roof, so your vehicle gets charged when its in parking lot.

If you like to dive into the specs of this little baby, at 100 pounds (including battery), ELF has got disc brakes, standard 26-inch mountain bike-style wheels, and a top allowable speed of 20 mph i.e. 32 km/h). Now, one ELF Velomobile would cost you US $4000 and Cotter and his team are currently raising production funds on Kickstarter for an initial run of 100 ELFs. Check out their awesome video here -
