EAFT MagicTile Marathon Tablet: 10" & Tegra 2 But Android 2.2?

EAFT Technologies Pvt. Limited has launched the EAFT Magictile Marathon tablet to compete with the iPad, Samsung Tab and other players in the tablet market. The company derives its name from "Everything At Finger Tips" and has made it its visition "To provide ICE (Information, Communication, Entertainment & Education) to masses on the go". EAFT is bit late to enter the market, but better late than never. Let's take a quick look at the EAFT Magictile Marathon Tablet features and technical specifications.

EAFT MagicTile Marathon Tablet

EAFT, in their own words, enables you to experience a super thin & ultra-fast communication and multimedia tablet equipped with 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB, Full HD 1080p video and Flash support. EAFT has worked on extending the battery life of the product to about 8 hours. Note that Android is associated with poor battery performance on both tablets and phones. It's direct competitor, iPad 2 offers about 10 hours of battery life.

We've highlighted the operating system for a reason: The hardware is rock solid - but the tablet's still running Android 2.2! Note that Android 2.2 has not been optimized for the tablet experience. We're not sure whether the company is planning to offer Honeycomb (Android 3.0) support for the tablet anything in near future. The price of the tablet has been set at INR. 29,000. Imagine what will happen once Samsung enters in the market with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 models? Apple is surely going to lower their prices then and any tablet with old Android software is surely going to find it hard to sell in the market.

However, it's important to note that the tablet will get all your work done. If you don't care for having latest operating system on your tablet, then go with this tablet. We however believe that one should wait until Samsung enters the market and companies lower their price. By that time, it will be clear whether EAFT is going to offer Honeycomb for this tablet.
