Driver Warning System In Hill Road Bends For Safer Journey

Project Abstract / Summary : Introduction
The main idea of this proposal is to provide a pleasant and peaceful hill travel and to avoid any possibility of accidents in hill curves. Hill stations have always been a favorite vacation spots for all age groups. The often used mode of transportation is road ways by many people to reach a destination in a Hill station. Road accidents are undoubtedly more frequent and are responsible for many deaths worldwide. The roads in these hilly regions are always filled with many hectic and endless curves. These curves are classified into Hair-Pin Curves, Salient Curves and Re-entrant Curves. These curves provide either partial or no-visibility of the incoming traffic to the drivers. A thorough knowledge of new approach for combining ultrasonic sensor and warning signals with the help of Arduino UNO programmer to avoid road accidents in hill road bends is resolved in this proposal.
Problem Identification
In hilly regions of INDIA the traffic accidents are due to poorly developed national highways, poor infrastructure and unattended hazard zones. The prevention of road accidents is extremely important and will not be ensured by strict laws and police controls. But only by the obligation of the drivers to adapt their speeds at corner. On this regard to address this problem a system is to be developed to warn drivers about the approaching traffic in hill curves. There are no such warning systems in hill road bends in our practical world to avoid accidents and for safer journey.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : The concept of safety in hill curves was addressed by our guide Mrs. P. Jenitha Deepa and gave the problem to us. Our guide with our mentor and team member Mr S Renold elsen developed the basic idea for implementing the idea. Further, the literature survey was done by myself and my other team members for developing the required hardware for successful working of the project.

Project Highlights : To decrease the accidents rate as the safety of the commuters travelling in hill region is ensured and on this regard the work can be adjured as a life saving device.
To provide a pleasant and peaceful hill travel and avoids any possibility of accidents in curves.
The comfort and confidence to maneuver the vehicle in risky corners by the drivers is established.
