Design of power roller conveyor by using SCARA robot LS6
Project Abstract / Summary : ABSTRACT
CONVEYOR SYSTEMS:
INTRODUCTION AND IMPACT:
Conveyor systems are mainly used for transporting the product from one place to other place within an confined space easily. Primitive conveyor belts have been in use since the 1800s--initially used in transporting goods to and from mines, which had a great impact on improving the speed with which mined materials could be brought to the surface.conveyor is sideways also used for transporting people from one place to another The conveyor systems had an great impact on industries and people because of its simple construction and working.
The main aim of our project is to design an power roller conveyor system which
transports individual element fuel rods in elemental trays for bundling and soldering the ends so that these can be used as fuel rods in nuclear reactor for generation of electricity. This system uses special type of drum motors for transporting products instead of conventional belt systems. The main advantage of this power roller system over the belt system is due to its higher pay loads, fewer parts, minimum maintenance, noiseless operation and drum motor is efficient than conventional motors. This power roller conveyor system also consists of a special type of picking and placing mechanism which is used for lifting and placing of fuel rods from one conveyor to other.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : we have chosen to work on this project because we are familiar with design software and thought it would be better if the fuel rods in the nuclear industry can be handled by using robots instead of man power dew to the radioactivity of nuclear fuel,by designing this overall production and overall cost effectiveness of the fuel rods in industry has been increased drastically.
