Control The Information You Share On Any Website With New Facebook Login

This feature was long sought after. Thousands of us have been clicking on the 'Facebook Login' button to avoid the hassle of entering data manually in the sign-up form across websites. In this process, we had to agree to share whatever information that the website demanded. Well, not anymore. Facebook had introduced Graph API v2.0, the new Facebook Login, and a lightweight Login Review process. From April 30th, any website owner using the Facebook login app to give its visitors access will have to upgrade to new Login review, else it will show an error. With the new Facebook Login, users will have the ability to control the information they share with any website. This means the user can choose not to grant all the permissions a website requests.

The new Facebook login also shows lesser options. Only the permission previously approved via Login Review are now seen on the Login Dialog. Some permissions such as photos of your friends will no longer be accessible to the website's app.

If you are a website owner and wondering what happens if you haven't registered for Login Review by April 30th, well know that #-Link-Snipped-# becomes mandatory only if your app asks for more than public_profile, email and user_friends permissions. Apps that do not request beyond these permissions do not need to undergo Login Review.

We believe this is a great move for regular Facebook Login users as now there's more control over what information of your Facebook profile you share with which website. A little more choice would click well with all kinds of people concerned about their online information security.
