Bangalore Railway Station Goes BluFi

India's own silicon valley, Bangalore is paving the way for railway stations in India to wireless connectivity. The Bangalore city railway station became the first in the entire railway network to offer BluFi aka Bluetooth + Wi-Fi connectivity to passengers on the station. Users will be able to access lot of important information & updates through their mobile phones. The facility has been made available through the collaboration of Railtel Corporation Of India and TeleBramha - leading mobile advertising solutions company. TeleBramha will take care of the bluetooth connectivity while Railtel will be responsible for the Wi-Fi access. Bangalore railway officials call this step as an important step towards passenger comfort.

Passengers who want to gain access to the Internet will have to send an SMS to the WiFi registration portal. The portal will then SMS the password back to the user. This password can be used to connect to the Internet. Each browsing session can last only for 45 minutes. If a user wants to stay connected beyond 45 minutes; a new user session will have to be created, following the procedure.

We are happy to learn about this step taken by Bangalore railway officials. We sincerely hope that this step will result into lesser complaints to the station officer about trains being late. What's your take?
