Asus Zenbook UX21 And UX31 Models - Thinner than Air!
Long has Asus ruled the netbook market, but now it seems to be going great guns for ultraportables too and what would be better than entering with a product that challenges the best ultraportable presently known to man. Â Asus launched its Zenbook, a super thin ultraportable putting itself in direct competition with Apple's Macbook Air.

Driven by Intel's powerful i5 processor (can also be upgraded to i7) the notebooks are available in two models, a 11.6 inch model (UX21) and a 13.3 inch model(UX31). The ultraportable runs Windows 7 and is a part of Intel's 'Ultrabook' series which consitutes of a number of notebooks that are less than one-inch thick. As for the Zenbook, it runs thin throughout its body, the thinnest point measuring 0.11 inches and the thickest at 0.35 inches, making it the thinnest notebook available. True to its word, it beats the Macbook Air, the thickest point on the Macbook Air measuring 0.68 inches.
The UX21 is as light as it is thin, weighing just under two and a half pounds, while UX31 weighs around 2.84 lbs. The Zenbook comes with an "instant-on" button which allows it to boot within two minutes from standby mode. The Zenbook also comes with the latest USB 3.0 port , Bang & Olufsen Audio, microHDMI, miniVGA Audio and an SD card reader on the UX31 model. In comparison to the Macbook Air, the Zenbook specs aren't extraordinarily good, but the cheaper price might bode well for Asus' line of ultraportables.
