Apple Testing 1.5-inch OLED Display For iWatch?

With every device getting smarter day by day, it's time for the watch to go smart and Apple may now be really moving towards building a smartwatch, what people are claiming to be named as the iWatch. Being surrounded by rumours for quite a long time around, finally reports are saying that Apple is indeed testing components for building a smartwatch. This goes simultaneously with Google also being rumored in building a smartwatch device. The news came in when Apple was reported to be testing out 1.5-inch OLED displays, built by Ritek subsidiary RiTdisplay, which is a Taiwan based display manufacturer. This report was brought by Taiwanese news source Economic Times.

The display panels and touch technology would be supplied by RitFast, which is a joint venture between Home - RITEK Group and Taiwan's #-Link-Snipped-#. YoungFast is a small to medium sized manufacturer of touch panel sensors ranging from 1.2 inches to 12 inches. Apple was initially testing a 1.8-inch display but realised that it would be bigger and settled for a 1.5-inch size. This report was also added by Economic Times. Another news by the same source claims that Apple supplier Foxconn had already received an order for 1,000 devices which seems to be a small number and only for testing purposes, since the number for mass production needs to be quite bigger.

Apple obviously has decided not to say much into these rumours flooding all over the internet. So we cannot be sure whether we would actually get to see an iWatch. If there's a smartwatch by Apple, we would see its release in this year itself. Would the iWatch be yet another revolution brought by Apple to the concept of something as simple as looking at the time?
