Alibaba Will Bring Aliyun OS 2.0 Based Tablet With Tianyu In China

Tianyu In China is the e-commerce giant in China. Alibaba had unveiled Aliyun Operating System (based on Linux) in July, following which Engadget had reported that they will bring English version of the OS in september. A chinese handset company named Tainyu used this OS first in manufacturing the K-Touch W700 smartphone early this year. Now, the version 2.0 of this OS will be released by Alibaba Cloud Computing by the end of the year.

Mr. Wag Jiang, CTO, Alibaba Group has said that they will be launching a tablet based on Aliyun OS which we believe is being brought to fight with Apple iPad in Chinese market. This tablet is temporarily named as 'YanPad'. It's interesting to see how this Chinese iPad will tackle with Android operating devices and Apple devices in China since Chinese market is one of the biggest market for Apple next only to the US. For a fierce competition with other flourishing OS, Alibaba will have to take strong measures for partnering with all the major handset manufacturers. Other details regarding the tech specs, features and price of the tablet have not been revealed.

On the other hand, it is also in news that Alibaba has started investing hugely [approx. 1 billion yuan ] in this mobile OS. "If others get into the mobile Internet market, then Alibaba has to do it too," said Sun Peilin, an analyst at Analysys International firm. Moreover, on Monday Alibaba launched a 1 million yuan competition for app developers that expands till the end of this year. It deals with building best cloud apps for the Aliyun OS.

Till Alibaba gathers it's thieves (read developers), let's hope we all have something interesting to look forward to.
