Air-Powered Car made entirely out of 500,000 Lego pieces - A super awesome micro project

Lego is the best gift we received as kids, especially during the holiday season like this one. Even as elder, building stuff out of Lego has been the most loved time-killer. But what Raul Oaida, a 20-year-old from Romania, has built out of Lego pieces is all kinds of cool. He has developed a life-sized hot rod using 500,000 Lego pieces and what's more interesting is that it runs on air. Yep, this air-powered Lego Car can reach speeds of up to 17 miles per hour. In fact, they would've driven it even faster, but stopped due to the fear of a "Lego explosion." The car's engine runs on air and has been created using standard Lego pieces and has four orbital engines with a total of 256 pistons

Raul Oaida, who has previously developed and launched a Lego shuttle into space partnered with Steve Sammartino, an entrepreneur based in Melbourne to take his brain-child project to another level. Under the tag name [HASHTAG]#SuperAwesomeMicroProject[/HASHTAG], the air-powered Lego car is now a reality. The car is built up out of two small tanks that store compressed air. The car works when compressed air is released into the pneumatic engine, which in turn propels the drive shaft.

"I must point out that those seats are probably the most uncomfortable seats in automotive history," Australian partner Steve Sammartino told ABC. "But in order to stay pure to the project we wanted to make sure that all of the things, including the seats and the clunky steering wheel – which is also uncomfortable – were made out of Lego." Although, we are unsure about the future of this automobile vehicle just like the founders, we are pretty amazed at how a crowd-funded project has made a real car out of an awesome idea. The founders are right now welcoming offers to display the car/ hot-rod in auto shows and exhibitions.
