TacTic : A New System To Help Deaf-Blind People To Communicate With Internet
There are several methods to help people with disability to communicate with internet, but most of them only provide limited content. Researchers from Alcoy campus of the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia along with Innovatec and Indra, have designed a new system which can help disabled people to communicate better.
TacTic, is a tactile simulation system, is based on Malossi language. The system is implemented on a glove, where each glove has 26 motors, each of which denotes an English language alphabet. It also has a keyboard, a charger and some wireless modules. TacTic has separate interfaces for computers and smart-phones. The system also sports a virtual interpreter that allows user to communicate with another touch glove wearer, resulting in a message sending, receiving and voice recognition module.

Using touch glove users can surf the web, check emails, send and receive messages, chat on different messengers and can get tactile representation of images and music. The system also has an emergency module, that can send a warning text. Tactic is in prototype stage only, but once completed, it could be highly helpful for deaf-blind people.
