Sky City - World's Tallest Skyscraper To Be Built In 210 Days, Not 90

The Sky City - world's upcoming tallest building seems to have a new deadline - of 210 days and not 90, as the company behind it promised earlier (Read: #-Link-Snipped-#). The Chinese company Broad Sutainable Building (BSB) had announced the plans to build the world's tallest building in record time of 90 days. The skyscraper will be whooping 838 meters tall, about 10 meters taller than the current record holder, Dubai's #-Link-Snipped-#. We're already setting our eyes to Dubai for the announcement to beat the Chinese; but this one's going to be quite of an engineering challenge.

The construction of 220 story Sky City is expected to begin in the next month at Changsha in the province of Hunan. The new date of completion of the new tallest skyscraper is expected to be in March 2013. The BSB hopes to keep the cost of the building under $650 million as compared to the Burj Khalifa's $1.5 billion. The constructors will build Sky City at a pace 9 times faster than the Burj.  Once completed, it will offer housing to over 100,000 people with about 1,000,000 sq.m of usable floor space. It'll have 104 elevators. The construction will be earthquake proof and 15-cm thick walls will be heavily insulated for energy efficiency.

BSB's rival Gensier is skeptical about the proposed timeline but BSB is confident of completing the task in the promised time-frame. We promise to provide you with the updates on this fantastic megastructure.
