Olive Pad VT 100 Review & Price

I searched, I saw, but it conquered!

The “India’s First” saga is going on and on this season!

Here I would just love to talk about the India’s first 3.5GAndroid tablet. It had hit the markets in August, but then, it had only the Android 2.1 in its heart. Now the new stuff is here, one of this November’s greatest releases, a tablet with Android 2.2 Froyo. I am talking about the Olive Pad VT 100.

#-Link-Snipped-#The name itself makes the product sophisticated. Close your eyes and say the name in firm voice; and you will feel yourself that you are saying the name of some sports car. Yes, this thing is fast, damn fast when we consider its connectivity options and performance. With the amenities like Wi-Fi, HSUPA-3.5G support(iPad is 3G compatible), GPRS, GPS and a Bluetooth, this tabby is waiting to connect and show you what it is! The superfast download, upload, browse and stream features are all due to the Android web kit and the 3.5G technology support it sports.

The internet provides other boons too, like emailing, IMs, and social networking to the peak. Stay connected to your friends when you are at work and stay at work even if you are with friends! This is a multi-tasker’s dream come true.

Now for those on the go, there is some good news. It has a very impressive battery back up. The 3240Ah Li-Po battery under its body cover, gives you a 400hour stand-by backup on GSM and a 550hour standby backup on HSUPA. Then the talk time back up is 1200 and 480 minutes respectively. That means, even if you forget the charger to your office, its ok! The power source just won’t let you down.
You would want to know what you can have with all that back-up! Well, have fun of course. Apart from the social networking and fun over the internet, you can always hear some quality music. The music quality is awesome! No need of an IPOD whatsoever! It can support many music formats. Then radio is also high profile! But it is said that the phone supports only 3GP video format. That is something sad. Oh well! The other thing you can do to enjoy is gaming! Play on, you have a lot of games in it, and with the touch screen, you have the chance to make the best out of the game freak in you! But if you think that you are going to get bored by the games in it, I would say there is no need to worry. The games are Java games, buddy! You have a Java support. Download as much games as you want. I told you we have a very fast internet in this.

Talking about the other apps, this tablet has a digital compass, G-sensor, Ambient light sensor and the regulars like stopwatch, calendar, calculator and world clock. We can even find a Zenga TV client which gives a good TV browsing experience.

Oh, I didn’t say anything about the space which encloses all this. The phone is 179.4mm long, 110mm wide and 11.5mm thick, glazy, and looking so irresistibly delicious. And when you enjoy with it, you will enjoy it through a 7-inch screen. You will fall in love with it, you will feel the desire, and you will be seduced. It’s a seducer in your hands! This is the candy bar you will love the most to play with!

It has a 3MP camera. Yes, it is a bit low-def nowadays; the standard nowadays is 5MP for me! But it does have autofocus and 4X zooming. The camera clarity is superb. Keep in mind a fact that Apple iPad doesn’t have a camera. Talking about the secondary cam, you just can’t find out where it is. C’mon, take up the challenge, search for it. The designers have taken special care to hide it! It’s cool! The secondary camera allows video calling in remarkably good quality.

The Olive Pad is powered by the ARM11 (600MHz) processor (iPad has an Apple A4, which is 1MHz.), and works on a Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset platform. To give enough workspace to all the high end apps, it has a 512MB internal memory! Other than that, it has a built in memory of 512MB, which can be extended to 32GB. That’s all you need for an above average user.

I left out one connectivity option; it has a mini USB port. I have to say this loud and clear because iPad users know that their machine doesn’t have that option.

Now coming to the main part, the price! This indulgence comes to you at INR 25,990. If you think this is too hard at your pocket, think again. Inside the pack, you will see a leather case (its worth Rs.1600)a 16GB memory card (yes, now please stop rubbing your eyes!), a free 6 months subscription of Zenga TV and along with that, don’t jump, there comes a life-time subscription to Map My India, known to be worth Rs. 2500. Well, I can’t believe this, and I am looking forward to buy myself to make sure! Forgive my language, but this baby rocks!

My final verdict, this tablet has a great advantage over the iPad. You can count on this thing because of its low price and the usability it offers! Following are the technical aspects of this sleek tabby-
