Michelin Protek Max Tubes Repaire Punctures On Their Own

Michelin Protek Max Tubes is latest offering from the tire company. The self-healing tiers is not an entirely new concept. There are sealants that deposit at the punctured location and prevent airflow. The Michelin Protec Max Tubes advances the concept by offering a unique bumpy surface along with a square shaped cross section. This design is more resistant to punctures in tubes and maintains the air pressure for longer time than existing solutions.

Protec Max achieves this by making the surface 'close' on its own using the inner air pressure than 'expanding' because of the elasticity of the tube. It means, when the tube is punctured, the inner walls of the bumpy surface will actually compress instead of expanding. This action closes the puncture immediately. The square design used by the Protec Max Tube makes it easier to install inside the tires while ensuring correct orientation. While the bumpy surface does a clever job of compressing the puncture, Michelin also uses sealant to fix it for longer duration.
