does c programming bother a lot in mech engn?i had problems wid it...how can i tackle that?

No, not at all. C Programming has nothing to do with any part of mechanical engineering. But preferably one must have knowledge of any one programming knowledge as sometimes computer programming saves a lot of computation time especially when you are working on some projects etc.

If you can, then try to learn MATLAB as it is a very useful tool for all branches of engineering. But of course you won't find its use in your curriculum.

Robotics is a multi-disciplinary field. Robotics involves use of mechanical, electronics and computer engineering.
As far as mechanical part is concerned, subjects like 'Engineering Mechanics' , 'Kinematics of Machines' & 'Dynamics of Machines' form the basis of robotics. You will study these subjects in your 3rd, 4th and 5th semester depending upon the curriculum of your university.

hey i just completed my first year ......i will be starting with my mechanical engineering now.......so i just wanna ask wat softwares any basic one unlike catia ,cad etc should i learn as i am really keen on learning ...thanx in advance

It is perfectly right time to start learning CAD softwares. I will recommend to start with SolidWorks. The reason for learning SolidWorks first is that it has excellent interface intended to be used by students and will develop your interest in solid modelling softwares and also it is very easy to learn. Once you gain basic knowledge and become comfortable working with SolidWorks, you can move to CATIA or Pro/E.

Even I am in similar kind of situation in which you are right now. I will be graduating in 2013 and don't have any research experience till now. There are colleges abroad that give admissions without any letter of recommendation but they are not very reputed ones. You can try the forum - 'learnhub.com'. Do tell me if you get some valuable info.
