i have given my 4th semester exams(B.Tech.) this summer.. i am 4om electronics and communication field.. i want to learn embedded system technology. its not included in our university syllabus.. where can i go to learn this?? do IITs offer any short term courses on this?? please guide me, how should i go about learning embedded system??

well Big..K i think we lack CE's who r specialists in embedded system.. thanks 4 the reply..( at least got 1 reply..!!) well can you help me.. may be u can give me some piece of advice...

CE is still young, but we are growing fast & getting engineers from diverse fields. I am not the best person to answer your query, but I'll make sure that you get advice from the right people. I see you pointed that out. Well its good you post your question in several forums and be very clear about what you are looking for. You did that well.

About embedded systems, sadly the hobby can get a bit expensive, I myself am still on microcontrollers and have just started reading about embedded systems and FPGA's.

The xilinx site is one of the best on the topic, it offers webinars/demos/tutorials(?) and even systems you can buy to work on. Its a really exciting field, you can construct about any intelligent system with it!
