Re: Concealed Electrical Wiring
Aesthetics seems to be the most obvious reason, but my guide tells me that buildings can look nice even with external wiring (he is an architect, so he has to be right), and that concealing the wire poses the threat of fires breaking out inside(as Big B said), which is much more dangerous than an external fire.
Another problem (which can be avoided) is that the people who do the wiring dont do it properly to save cash(since the wiring is all hidden), for example, they dont follow the wiring standards like grounding of the connections, giving proper joints, etc, which is later a danger for those who reside in the building.
Advantages of concealed wiring which I have found out so far (apart from aesthetics) would be no danger of electrocution (if the earthing is done properly), the wires are protected from wearing/deterioration/rodents or careless damage.
So basically what I'm trying to find out is whether people went for concealed wiring due to other reasons than just aesthetics, or are they unaware of the dangers (since wires hidden in the walls "seems" safer), or is it by weighing the advantages and disadvantages of the various wiring methods?
