Smile Automation(Load runner) : parameterize value by passing from external source file

Could any buddy let me know how to parameterize value by passing from external source file, like excel or text.

to parameterise a value ------

select the value..
rightclick
select replace with parameter
now write parameter name......click onproperties.........
give a name to the file that saves parameters........
the extension should be .dat.
now click on create table.....
now click ok
make selectionfor replacing the parameter.

now if you want select edit file

n enter the values

this creates a text file
