Smile How to reduce computer booting time?

I want to restrict boot time of my windows xp machine to less than 40 seconds. Currently it takes about 70 seconds. What are different ways to do this?

Start--> Run--> msconfig.exe

Take out all extraneous programs, and services.

Alternatively,

Start--> Run--> services.msc

Go through each service and make manual the ones which you do not want

Faster RAM, Faster HDD, Hibernate support would also help. Needless to say Faster CPUs as well

I would like to chip in with some more..
there are lots of hardware that we do not use but takes up time to start up.
for example back usb ports, lpt13 port, bluetooths, in some cases lan ports, internal modems and such stuff.
u can disable all those(even hardware that u use occasionally)
anyway u can enable them after u boot up in case u ever need them
hope this would help in bringing down ur boot up time at least by a little
