Re: New Robotics / Electronics club
Taking a leaf from Raj's comments, Here are my suggestions. - The first step would be to form an administrative committee. Since we have our editorial team in place, we can take care of that. We will assign specific roles to people here.
- Since mostly the target market is going to be students, I think a membership fees of US $10 would be ideal. If necessary we can involve a reputed bank to take care of our finances. (Collection, maintaining accounts, salaries, reimbursements etc.)
- The membership age groups would be 16 to 30. There would be separate classification for high school graduates and people doing there masters.
- We can start of with chapters in major cities and educational hubs in India, say Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai. They will form the core chapters and we can have sub chapters in smaller cities below them.
- The core activities of these chapters would be to promote OSIR initiatives in the colleges under their jurisdiction, invite memberships, promote and help students for participation in research related work. We will also organize monthly meets to make people aware of our activities.
- What members will get is complete help and support to back their scientific research and financial aid to go to competitions for displaying their innovations.
- The administrative board (typically will have 4 to 5 members) will oversee the activities pan India. The regional/city wise heads will report to the Admin board. Admin board will report to the OSIR HQ.
- One of the members of the India Admin board will have a invited representation from the OSIR parent board. All funding related activities will go under his eye. We can also think of deploying a web based software (some thing like a CRM) in order to give more visibility to OSIR members.
One of my major doubts at this stage is how is OSIR going to undertake this activity.
I await more responses.
